[*]Rendertime subdivision surfaces - In the image above the blobby shapes aren't MeshSmoothed, they are low poly objects with the VRay subdivision applied. This is view dependent so you will never see polygons along the silhouette.

Very nice egz!!! very nice indeed.

I assume its an advanced version of max's meshsmooth. You know that with meshsmooth you can set it so that it only applys the meshsmooth at render time right?? By the sounds of it you have all your meshsmoothing applied in the viewport.

I too would like a little more insight into the dome light. What will be its function over the current lighting setups? Will it be mappable or something?

                      whats the dome light?
It's sort of a skylight replacement with very optimized sampling. Think of it as a VRay version of those dome-light scripts you can get for max or maya. It's actually an infinite size dome that sits around your scene illuminating it.
and what will the Rendertime subdivision surfaces u dont need hight poly on viewports?
You can do that with regular MeshSmooth too (just use the render iterations option to set a different subdivision level for render and viewport). What is great with the VRay Loop Subdivision (as it is called) is that you just turn it on, and it will adapt to how close the camera is to the object. No matter how close you get, the object will always be smooth.

It isn't mappable now, but Vlado tells me that it will be mappable at some point. That way you can map it with an HDRI and it will be sapmpled optimally, with more samples in bright areas etc.

mmm sounds awesome, so basically its a advanced meshsmooth with LOD. yeah?

mmm mappable would be very very handy. Much easier for aligning HDRI's
ALso it would be handy if you could map the brightness/color of the dome. Without needing to use a HDRI

It's still in closed testing, the UI needs some more work. I don't know when it will be public. I guess you could email Vlado and ask.

                                It's unfair Private testing
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?
