We ordered the Beta disk for window xp64 but have not yet installed it on our machine... dual AMD opterons 2G mem. Do you think we will get improved rendering times installing that version of Xp without a 64b build of Max. I am just curious if it is worth wasting time testing now or not? any thoughts are welcome.
    Thanks

No, there is not a speed increase in running 32 bit apps, the only benefeit for now is being able to address more memory, I was testing a scene that was using 4GB of memory

what does the 3600/800 mean? is that overclocking? Yes, 8 minutes for me please!

                My result on a Dual Opteron 246 / 2Gb running WinXP-64 and Max7 with Vray 1.45.7:

                16m, 7.7s

Now, keep in mind that the 245 runs slower than the 248, and that this scene is a Vray 1.09 scene, which means that it probably runs slower than one created to begin with in 1.45

                    Wow Reza, that's unbeatable.

My test took 14m 46,7s with a Dual Opteron 248 using the /3GB switch in Max7 with Vray 1.45.7 and normal XP.

Hah, basically the same system here only 3gigs of ram.. took 1h 7m 2s.. when I opened/sent it as I walked out last night.. I have a feeling something is screwed up here

heh, either that or my virus scan ran through it that i didn't notice!

                              Wow!! f***ing fast...

As it seems all the AMD systems take the same amount of time (about 14min), regardless how many ram or what system (64bit or not) is installed.

But those xeon workstations with overclocked cpu's beat everything.
14min to 5min is quite a difference! Great job reza and vergefio!

                              My questions are:

-Can one overclock the amd systems as well?
-I don't know much about overclocking: are there some usefull links?
                              - What are the risks?

                              thanks in advance
