  • Vray is going nuts after midnight!!!

I was trying to render a scene and at midnight vray caused max to crash and the render nodes all went crazy as well!

The render nodes kept opening and closing the max file from spawner. Never a problem before. It started at midnight my time.

There is something very wrong here!!

I can't get MAX to open without crashing with vray.

I deleted vray and max started without a problem, so I'm very sure it's a vray problem.

Hi guys, did you try setting the date back to a time when everything was still working correctly?

Like: choosing 24-12-2004 as your date and then rebooting the pc?

            hope this helps,

Setting back system time does not help and is also not recommended due to a lot of other problems one can run into. We don't have any further contact information.
Its another experience. We will wait a few more hours and then have to switch to another rendering solution - we are already testing parts of our scene with FinalRender. Unfortunatly we will not be able to meet our deadline anymore at all.

please keep in mind that resetting the time on your pc will do nothing if you do not reboot your pc. The time settings used for your programs will only be read during startup time. just changing _adjust date/time_ settings will not work.

I sent an SMS to Vlado about it and he is looking into it now.

Setting your date to february (anything but january, in fact) instead of january will work; I'm preparing a very quick patch right now.

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado

The patch is already on the site (VRay 1.46.10):

We are already up and running again! Thank you very much for the quick response!
(Got just a little error message during install wich sayed that its not possible to write the libmmd.dll. After renaming the old one it worked. Just in case if that should be somehow important)
