  • Multimatte elements have values greater than 1.0

I'm rendering out sequences that have a bunch of Multimatte elements for various parts and I find that some, but not all, save out values that go above 1.0. The max value isn't consistent from one element to another (some might max out at 16.0 and some at 25.4323 or similar).

I can normalize them in Nuke by scanning for the max value and renormalizing to 0 - 1, but it's time consuming to figure out what the max is for each scene and it just seems like it's not the right workflow.

Is this expected behavior, or maybe a bug?

It would be best if you could send us a scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we could investigate this further and reproduce the issue in our environment.

I'll send over the scene to support - probably in a couple days when this project calms down

It turns out just deleting the MultiMatte and creating a new one with the same settings solved the problem. Not sure what was happening, maybe something got corrupted when I saved / loaded render presets.

Anyhow, if anyone else comes across this problem, try deleting the MultiMatte element and remaking it.
