  • Light Select and VraySun

Hi, im testing a scene to comp it back to beauty from light select elements. I dont know if thats the proper behavior, but vray sun, doesnt include the vraysky gi. Therefore i had to use vraysky as a map in a dome light instead of the default environment (and make an extra light select element with that), and problem is solved beauty pass is exactly same when reconstructed from light select passes.

But... my render time doubled Is there a work around on that?

    Thanks

I guess we could add an option to include the environment contribution to a light select element. Would that work?

It would be awesome, and i think it would be only needed for vraysun Light select is the most welcome addition in the latest version in my opinion!
      Keep up the good work!

A bit off topic but I'm curious did render times really double when using dome light instead of environment map? I though dome lights were better and faster to render?

Yep, that was the reason in this scene.I never knew that dome is supposed to be faster though. Thats why on the first place i preferred sun than an HDR.

In some scenes with just VRaySky and VRaySun, using only the environment may be faster.

I dont know if i should open a new thread, but today the light select stop functioning proper. Its the same scene, same setup, i send it to backburner and noticed some crazy fireflies/pixels. The burn pixel pattern was same in all my light select passes.
I attach image, will re assign light select and if issue keeps up i ll send scene to support. thanks

I suspect there is something with the exposures, but the weird thing is that this scene last night was fine. Today this the very moment i sent it for render. Thanks

Fyi, noticing the same issue on other scenes. Seems like alsurface shader doesnt play well with this feature or i ve done something terribly wrong? thanks
