  • Env slot on vray material

Hello, sometimes i use this trick to cheat reflections. But i noticed that it works only when i m on exterior shots. Even if i use a dome with hdr outside, it seems that dome overrides my fake environment reflections.
Have u seen this behavior before? If its the expected one, i d suggest there should be a priority in this slot so the object understands which reflection should use or even simpler, always use the map in there once there is a map. I dont know if i explain this correct cheers

What happens if you turn on the "dim reflections" option and set the dim distance to 0?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

My understanding is that the environment override is reflected only if a ray was seeing the environment. So if you have walls and other objects in the way, they block the environmental rays. That explains why it only seems to work for you in exteriors. (Stick a sphere next to a window, should see your environment override there.

Maybe that's why a dim distance of 0 works, because it's limiting the distance that the nearby objects can be 'seen' by the reflections.
