  • Wrapped diffuse or Half Lambert

    Hi
Is there a way to make use of the so called Wrapped Diffuse or Half Lambert shading/lightning technique within Vray for max?
That is to multiply the dot product of the light normal and surface normal to strech the shading over the light terminator on a surface.
Effectivly faking a subsurface kind of look.
I fully understand that this is not plausible shading in any way but I'm looking for it to be able to recreate the same kind of look
that I get with this cheat on my cartoony clouds within a realtime engine.

Could this be possible in Vray if I learn OSL or is that shading language weighted towards physically plausible also?

Can you show me the look you are going for?

    Best regards,

Many Thanks for the really quickresponse and for a wonderful product!

Now I feel a bit stupid for asking such a weird question since looking at the result that I try to emulate
it might just be a simple separate lightingsetup for the clouds that is needed.

However here is a very crude setup of the look I'm after. Left cloud and sphere has a wrapped diffuse shader applied and the right ones have basic standard realtime shader.
(didn't get the shadowmaps to get the right transparency for this test)

      Best regards
      Lars
