sounds cool.. Any legitimate reason to recommend that anyone head over and try it? I mean are you just horsing around or are you using it for a specific reason?

Hi everyone, just thought i would let you all know that after updating the Bios on my laptop I managed to get the rendertime of this benchmark file from 51mins to a blazing 33mins 48.1secs!!!!

If anyone has any thoughts on why this would happen please let me know. I am not complaining, I am very happy with the outcome

1289 of Win2k3 server is available, I haven't been able to find XP on the Microsoft site.

Moving to XP64 has the advantage of system processes actually running at 64bit instead of 32bit - so the processor is emulating less right?

And the memory...say goodbye to the /3g switch! the pagefile can get up to some ungodly size like 128 TB

Oh and viruses, because of the rewrite of drivers and everything else in the core of Windows, most viruses need to be rewritten for the 64bit system structure from what I understand.

But the main reason for me using it is so that I'm ready for 64bit apps when they arrive, extended available memory size, and that it seems very stupid to be running a 32bit OS when your processor is fully 64bit.

But if you still don't want to believe me then fine :P

                Hi everybody,

Rendering while trying to use AutoCAD and other programs...
                15min 9.0s here.
Later will try to leave it just rendering to see the impact on time.

                Specs:
                Dell Precision 360 P4EE 3.2Ghz 2Gb RAM
                Win XP SP1

                regards,
                Joao.

Ok, I've just rendered while was out for lunch, and time was:

                  14m 25.6seconds
                  Same specs as above.

                  regards,

                  Joao.

                    Here are my results:

                    Dell Precision 650
Dual Xeon 2.66 (533 mhz bus) HT Disabled
                    2 gigs Ram
                    Win 2K SP 4

If I turn on DR and use our two slaves I get this:
                    The are both identical:
Dual Xeon 2.8 (533 mhz) HT enabled
                    2 gigs Ram
                    Win XP SP2

The hyperthreaded dual Xeons seems just about the same speed as dual Opterons. So I wouldn't go too googoo-gaga over them.

Notice everything in the 3-5min range was done with DR.
