That's default. I'm trying V-Ray sun/sky now. With my hdri it's 3 hours. I'll see what it is with sun/sky.

Well how would one answer a question such as that. By what standard are you measuring? Resolution, quality, noise, # of cores etc.

For me it takes as long as it takes for a chosen level of noise and quality of AA. To be specific, that means MSR from 6-16, AA 1-12 @0.01, BF/LC defaults at a resolution of 12 mega pixels and denoising set to mild. For animations I increase LC subdiv and retrace to suite. Certain things will always increase render times such as small openings, opacity on materials, caustics etc.

Ultimately, if you cant deliver your chosen quality in a timely manner buy more cores

I suppose the question isn't any different than any benchmark question. The top performers on the benchmarks are from $20,000 CPU's. From what I gather, my 2hr interior renders times are not uncommon. Yes, it is scene dependent, but If everyone else is seeing 20-30 minute times, on average, then I better start planning for some hardware upgrades.
