  • Plastic material using VrayEdgesTex in a composite map as bump map

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to make a plastic material with multiple bump maps, and an VrayEdgesTex to create bevels. But I can't seem to do that with GPU.

I can use the edge map in a composite map if it goes in the diffuse, but not if it goes in the bump. Unless I switch to CPU.

Any ideas? (besides switching to CPU, as keeping everything as GPU is part of the test for me )

    /Jonas

It is (rounded edges + procedural bump). You have edges tex as bump map. This is the way it works in V-Ray GPU since 3.5.

any idea how I can combine vrayedges with some noise to make the bump material less even? Trying with vraycomptex but it doesnt seem to blend..neither does composite..

                    I don't understand.
how would I use that to combine edgetex rounded corners with a noise map?

Probalby I don't get the question, but you can use the noise tex where I have used composite?

                        I'm trying to do this
                        http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/200...illet-tutorial
He is using general edge Tex but I only want the rough irregular bump at the corners, not all edges.
                        Is that possible somehow?

As I have showed, it will blend the bump map that you add with the rounded edges. Not sure how to make the bump map affect only aroudn edges though.

That's what I'm after. I don't need perfect round edges, I want them rugged. I don't understand why edgetex round corners can't be combined..

It's a special texture that is evaluated differently from regular bump maps. It's on the "to do" list to make the radius parameter mappable, which should help to break the straight edges a bit. We also plan to add an additional bump slot inside the edges texture. I can do it in a couple of days for V-Ray Next, if you are in a hurry.

                              Best regards,
                              Vlado
