I'm really happy to see that your biggest problem in V-Ray is the VRayMtl maps arrangement

So getting to the point - 4 options to choose from:

    1. Bring back the old arrangement
    2. Copy the Slate Material Editor arrangement (it might be difficult to do the opposite)
    3. The proposition from post #11 (super gnu)
    4. We make the telemetrics system track the usage of the map slots and make a new arrangement based on that

Option 4 can be easily combined with 1/2/3 - we first change the order (whatever 1/2/3 you choose) for Hotfix 1 and then gather statistics about the slots usage. After that I post here the results and we all decide what should we do with them.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

I already got use to the new way things are now and wouldn't want to get use to a new arrangement, again

      Kind Regards,

Option 3 is fine by me. Across both material editors.

Haha, We just thought this nuisance would be an easy and fast fix comparing to the other things you guys need to program

I respectfully disagree. The new arrangement makes no sense even if it was this way from the very start. Diffuse should always be at the top. This is most logical since it's one of the main properties of a material as well as the most used map slot of all. I think I'll go with "3. The proposition from post #11 (super gnu)."

Bring back the old arrangement please... it worked for years that way, and I don't recall ever seeing a request from a large group of users that the bump map slot needed to be first. Unless the developers can give users a way to customize the order themselves, there is no need to change anything; leave it be or else you just cause disruption in everyone's workflow.

Hasn't it been there for a year now? It's now the new normal.

I would like for it to be alternately at the top for one release, then somewhere towards the bottom for the next release, just to keep me on my toes.
                          No I wouldn't.
                          Thank you.

maybe it could be done with a random number generator so they are in a different position every time you open the material editor?

for extra fun, the slots could move, but the assigned maps stay where you put them.

Or a modern UI where you can drag-n-drop it too where you see fit.

No no no.....no sensible suggestions please! We had almost successfully hijacked the thread and converted it to comic relief!
