  • VRayClipper + Mesh in VRay Next GPU

    Hello,

It appears that the VRayClipper + mesh option with GPU rendering (4.02.05) does not work correctly in 3ds Max 2018. I was having issues in a more complicated scene, but walked it all the way back to simple cubes. In image 1 you can see the rendered result of a subtraction instead appears to be a union. In image 2, I've cancelled the rendering during the light cache, and you can see that the operation appears to be performed successfully at this phase, but when it finishes light caching and begins rendering, the result is image 1. I've also attached my scene file.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

VRayClipper in mesh mode is not supported at all when using V-Ray GPU. The light cache is calculated on the CPU and that's why you are seeing the effect in image 2.
Full list of supported features is here:

Thanks for the reply! I must've missed the mesh not being supported, sorry! The reason I was trying to work with the mesh clipper was because I've been running issues similar to what was already reported in this post:

      https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...rayclipper-gpu

I've tried all variations of including/excluding geometry, but I still end up with the phantom plane caused by one clipper intersecting another piece of geometry clipped by a second clipper.

      Thanks for your help!
