I have been fighting this for days. I have a displacement, which is a gradient. I am not seeing any definition on the left side of the displacement. I am using V-Ray NEXT. I am going to try a V-Ray extra texture in post, but shouldn't I be seeing a line where there is one? The first image is how it looks and the second is the dirt pass. I am using vraydirt on the material, too, but it's not helping.

in these situations i use a bit of dirt with negative falloff which tends to be daker than positive fallof adn use composite tex with multiply on top. You can also use some grunge map in the radius of the dirt to get uneven result.

What do you mean negative falloff? It doesn't seem to go into the negative.

                  sorry i meant distribution.
try -10, -50, -100 (sometimes high numbers produce unwanted artifacts)

                    Hi Bobby,
Is it supposed to be wooden planks like a cladding?
I guess so, but your wood texture should not be applied like that but rather like different boards ... I hope you know what I mean.
Anyway, it will help to get something more accurate
                    Anyway, I agree with Martin
                    (Sorry for my bad english)

I would just model these instead.

Yeah, but it is the whole house. Nothing worked, so I'll just use the V-Ray Dirt pass in post-production.

What I've done in the past is create a blend material. My base is the Vraymtl with all it's goodies...ex. your wood. The coat is a basic black material or a darker tone of you wood. In the mask I add a vrayedgetex material. I get the outlines that can be adjusted as needed.
