  • VFB Not rendering correct Viewport

Has anyone run into this issue? When I hit the render button, Vray renders some random ortho view evrn when you have the vray physical camera set to the view[port you are trying to render? I typically have to exit the file and get back in for it too work correctly again.

Hehe yeah that one messed me up too, many many times - but was answered luckily. Not a bug - just that the VFB renders whatever viewport it last rendered and bypasses any locked view choice.

The render button is actually acting as a Render last command, which means that it repeats the last view rendered.

Does it render the correct view if you use the Render production (Max toolbar or render settings render button) ?

I get this often, too, for at least some months now. And it is always randomly deciding to render the top viewport. I never render from the top viewport, so could something else be the root problem? It's really annoying and can cause crashes. I might do 3-4 renderings from one camera fine, but suddenly when I go to the next camera, and press render, and it starts from the top viewport. At this point, no matter what view I try, it will render from the top viewport for at least 3 more attempts from any camera view.

Behavior seems unchanged using any button or F9...

Its a 3ds max bug I think rather then vray. Its choosing to render a different viewport from the quad viewport layout then your camera. To make matters worse the lock button for camera does not always work. If you set all 4 3ds max viewports to the camera, it should render correctly.

Now that is interesting! I became just convinced that it was me making the same error as peeps have done before, - not realising that the Vray VFB rendered the last view rendered - so had dismissed it happening as clearly that.
                Just....weird

Mind you that the lock button is not locking to a camera, but to a viewport. If you accidently switch camera to perspective or orthogonal in that locked viewport, you might still end up with a wrong rendering.

Its must be a max bug. Same behavior in Corona.
                    drives me nuts.

As stated above. This is not a Max bug, but the intended behaviour.
Best is to use one viewport to render the scene, and then lock that viewport. Never touch it again, i.e switch to perspective or orthgonal in that locked viewport. It's a user error, that simple.

                        Thanks, I'll certainly try that!
