  • Workaround for 2D Displacement Mapping With Real World Scale Bitmaps

    Hi Chaos group,


    We are looking to see if anyone has a work around for using real world scale bitmaps along with 2d displacement mapping in the vraydisplacement modifier?

    For my companies use, we have found that 2d displacement yields the best results and lowest render times. Due to this, it is imperative that we use real world scale and 2d displacement mapping in our pipeline.

    Our issue comes when we turn on real world scale within the bitmap node which as you know, does not work with 2d displacement mapping.

    Maybe there's a third party plug in someone knows about that we can use? Looking for any possible solutions that will work for us.

      you mean the scale of the displacement is not correct due the real scale mapping?
      select all objects with displacement and apply a UVWXForm modifier and in tile input type 1000 to scale the mapping does that work? I don't know only a dirty workaround maybe...
