vray particle tex broken in max 2019 / vray next 1.1 (4.10.02.0001)

i went to use it to make a wetmap shader and it doesnt come up with the UI anymore to enable you to pick the particle system.
tried on a few different scenes on a few different machines. i normally use it in a blend but same issue if you try load it in a normal material slot.

any ideas how to get around this? is this fixed in newer builds?
