Hi,
This is a short feedback from experimenting VRayDenoiser plugin for Nuke.
VrayDenoiser 1.7 for Nuke 11.3v1 revision 577b6d56
Nuke 11.3v6
Pros:
+ It is the only AOV controlled Denoiser ! (as we know)
+ Best AOV controls are Albedo (Diffuse Filter) and Normals. (are negative WorldNormals taken into account ?)
+ Best results are with RAW light.
Cons:
- World Position doesn't have any impact, as we can see (and it's the bigger useless AOV, as 32bits !)
- Denoise can only work on a single AOV at the time, forcing us to shuffle our EXR.
- Noise Threshold doesn't reach very high noise amount, leaving us with heavy fireflies.
- TEMPORAL causes Crashes. This our hardest bug to face.
- TEMPORAL causes unwanted AOVs Time offset.
- TEMPORAL causes undesired cropping because of Bounding Box variation in time
(if nearest frames have shorter BBox, the Denoised result is cropped)
- TEMPORAL changing frame range causes result to be black until nuke script is closed and re-open.
- when knob values changed, result doesn't display until changes are made in the Channels tab.
- Denoise is computed event when not part of the displayed stream.
We are experiencing to use it in production, do you planned to work on this tool ?
Thanks !
