  • Matte surface showing in alpha

Not sure if this is a bug or a lack of knowledge, but i put a plane in to act as the ground, to recieve shadows and lighting etc, made it a matte material with a vray wrapper so it wouldn't render,

but when i loaded it into Photoshop the plane showed up in the alpha channel, and i had to manually mask it out. Using the default scanline renderer and a max matte/shadow, the matte surface isn't present in the alpha channel.

    Bug or Naivety?

    Hi

DonĀ“t use a wrapper for that task. You can simply assign a simple vray material to the plane and then select the object, right click, vray properties and check matte object, set alpha contribution to -1 and check shadows and affect alpha if u want the shadows to show in the alpha channel.

    Cheers!
