  • Incorrect Motion Blur with Linked Cameras

Vray has a motion blur bug - if you use normal links to attach a camera to something that is moving but the camera has no actual motion of it's own the motion does not transfer to the correct motion blur. This is true for vray physical camera and 3dsmax physical camera. (pic4)

3dsmax has a bug where it won't record keys properly if you just use normal linking (ie from the top menu next to the undo button) and try to bake down the motion into keys using the motion path conversion tools. (pic1)

So you have to use a position constraint instead (pic2)
and then bake it down into keys to get a correct result.(pic3)

I am able to reproduce a difference in motion blur between linked and independently keyed VRayCameras, however, not in the same scenario as illustrated in the screenshots. Could you send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can investigate further? Mention this thread in the e-mail as well along with your Max and V-Ray versions.

The linked set-up seems to work fine with VRayPhysicalCamera
