  • Weird Window Reflection

    V-ray 2.4

So I have a model of a building sitting on a vray plane. Vray sun light and vray sky. I have an animated vray physical camera that just orbits the building starting at one view and moving and stopping at another view. Very simple setup.

As the camera moves, there is a sharp reflection that moves across the window glass of the building (it looks very distracting and wrong somehow). Not sure what is making this reflection as there should be no objects to reflect other than the vray sky and vray plane and they are both similar similar in color at the horizon with no high-contrast anything to reflect.

I tried adjusting reflection glossiness to see if I could get the sharp reflection to blur and make the effect less distracting but this made no difference... it stayed sharp. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

    Thanks for any ideas!

    Sincerely,

Oh, and I should mention I tried setting the vray sun light to invisible ON but it made no difference... the reflection is unchanged.

    Thanks!

are you sure its reflection? it could be refraction, do check that. Also you should check affect shadow as its the correct workflow.

Perhaps the cutoff value? It doesn't look like this is happening anywhere near where the line might be but this might explain why it still appears even with a blurry reflection.

I think it's your reflection IOR,
Test this. Set the number to three and see if that line remains.
            I think it'll disappear.
If it doesn't, then this advise was in-correct

Thanks very much for all the ideas! It's working fine now.

The Refraction IOR was at 1.2... I changed it to 1.5 and the weird reflection is gone. Re-rendered the animation and now there is no unusual reflection appearing on those windows as the camera moves.

              Thanks again!
