  • Timing error with Volume cloud rendering

    Hey all!

Anyone know why this is happening? In my first link, you will see the preview I made. It's just a camera track right and because the volume box clouds in the background are so big, I move them left as the seasons change out.

Then if you look at the test rendered frames, the clouds are completely out of sync with everything else. But why?

The clouds were processed in a separate scene and then I used a couple of isolated files from the sim and loaded into a few Vray Volume Grids.

Why are they rendering with different timings when the frames for movement are identical to the camera motion?

Could you send the scene and assets to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look? Mention this thread in the e-mail along with your V-Ray and host platform versions.

Thank you for the report and the provided scene. The issue happens when rendering locally as well. It seems the camera motion blur offsets frames, rather than blurring when a lot of VolumeGrids in Volumetric mode are present. I've logged it (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-10152) for developer investigation. Switching all VolumeGrids to Volumetric Geometry resolves the issue. Render a few frames locally to test it out before sending it to the Cloud.

Thanks very much for that Aleksandar, I'll bear that in mind when I have to use volume grids again.
