  • Black buckets when loading layers from images in VFB history during rendering

On a certain scene I'm working at the moment, I'm getting black buckets when during rendering I'm loading layers from images saved in VFB history. Thankfully, after rendering has finished, the black buckets disappear and the whole image appears normal. This doesn't happen when loading the layers after rendering has finished, but only during rendering. This is with Vray 5 hotfix 1 + 3ds Max 2021.1.

Please see attached some screenshots. The buckets turn black as soon as I load the color correction layers from saved VFB images. If I don't load any corrections in the middle of rendering, buckets look fine.

Thanks for the report. I am able to reproduce the issue whenever there is a denoiser in both the scene and the imported layers. Is this the case for you as well?
EDIT: Logged the issue (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-10176) for developer analysis.

Yes, both the rendered image and the saved one had denoiser enabled.
