  • V-Ray Standalone doesn't render Hair and Fur (WSM)?

Is there a way to render the Hair and Fur (WSM) from 3ds Max within V-Ray Standalone?

Standalone (both Win and Linux) seem to completely ignore it. But maybe there's a setting I'm missing somewhere?

    Hi,

Hair and Fur are not supported when rendering in Standalone. For more info you can visit our documentation site:

In addition to Milva's comment, as a workaround you can go to the Hair and Fur modifier's Tools parameter and convert Hair -> Mesh. Alternatively, VRayFur could be used instead, all depending on the desired outcome.

        Thank you, this is great.

Preview – Renders a local preview with V-Ray Standalone which is the closest approximation to the render output from Chaos Cloud.
What are the differences between Standalone and Cloud?

The workaround Hair to Mesh is helpful, but unfortunately it does not transfer any material settings. We will try to use VRayFur or another plugin instead.

          Ideally - none
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
