  • Vray 5 update 1 - VFB composite multiply blending mode bug

    Hi,
Since the last update of Vray update 1 , when I try to use either the new occlusion pass or the VrayExtraTex with a dirt map, in multiply mode in the compiste source, the result is just a black screen.
It's a very annoying bug. Am I the only person having this issue? Is there a solution?
    Thanks

Seems ok here, can you send me a simple scene representing the issue?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

I've tried install/uninstall but nothing changed. I have the problem even in a new scene with just a cube and a plan with Vray light. Some blending modes in the composite do not work. I just have a black screen on the VFB. When i go back to the old version before update 1, it just works fine. The strange thing is that I thing I've downloaded a first version of vray update 1 maybe 2 or 3 days before the last version available on the website and I didn't had any problem with it. I've updated 2 days later with the lastest version and the problem appeared at this moment.
I think i'll have to keep using the older version and wait for the next update

            Hello

You need to put a layer with the RGB pass below the VRayAO.
Before Update 1 we had the RGB always present but that causes issues in some cases so now if there are any render element layers present - we start with black.

            Best regards,

Glad that helped. Probably we should've put a note about that somewhere

do yo mean i have to add a 'render element' set to rgb pass below the AO or Dirt? Because if i do that it destroys any adjustments ive made below. Could you explain the process a bit more?

I don't know what's in the folders in you example, but if it's composing properly you need only the AO pass on top with Multiply blending -

I was referring to the problem and solution in the thread, using VrayExtraTex with a dirt map, not AO. I've moved my post to the maya section.
