  • Problem with Secondary GI Engine

    Hi, following problem:

    - If Secondary GI Engine is set to None or BruteForce there are very weird artifact appearing on the transition line between light and shadow.
    - Problem doesn't exist when using LightCache.
    - Problem definitely didn't exsist before Update 1. Not sure though when it was introduced.
    - Problem exists in IPR and Production Rendering

      Hi,

it does improve marginally way when raising to much higher samples but the transition area takes forever to render then. So in this example in order to not have not any VERY obvious visual difference in terms of noise on the transition line compared to the overall noise i need to raise the MinSubdivs to at least 48 (Fixed Sampling, Max Subdiv turned off, just to make sure it has nothing to do with the NoiseTresh). And even then there is still a clear difference that you will never get rid of. The sampling times also go through the roof, no matter if fixed sampling or using Min/Max SubDiv and playing with the Noisetreshhold to low values such as, 0,001.

So you end up rendering a sphere that takes like 3 Minutes compared to just a few seconds when using lightcache (or earlier V-Ray versions where this issue didn't exist).
As said the problem not only occurs during Production Rendering, but also IPR.
I also reset my V-Ray Settings by switching between Scanline and V-Ray to make sure there is no issues in those. The only thing different to the Defaults is to just to use BucketMode and either None or BruteForce as Secondary Engine.

              It's a bug, we'll fix it.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
