  • Possible nasty Vray bug with ornatrix hair.

Hi. I'm having this problem with an invisible border clipping my hair in the renderings. Rendered with Vray 1.47.03.
See the attached mpg and max file
    http://www.umbriel.org/morgan/OxBug2.mpg
    http://www.umbriel.org/morgan/Oxbug.max

(This was done using Ornatrix 1.4)

In addition to this, trying to assign a procedural like noise to the diffuse channel yields no results in the rendering. Changing the mapping method from xyz to uvw makes my listener window spam messages about getUVWcoords and derivs in an infinite amount while vray tries to render. Rendering times jump up tremendously (in fact I have yet to complete a render when it does this). The exact same thing happens when trying to use the Ox hair map in the diffuse slot. It goes without saying that this works just fine in scanline.

Am I the only one in this universe having this problem?

No... I also found Ornatrix near impossible to work effectively with VRay on multiple levels. I believe there is some info on this exact problem on the Ornatrix website.

Jon, can you post a link to that info?

I though you had to get the vray renderer plugin for ornatrix to make it work (not sure if you have down this, as it might be included in the new builds)

          http://www.ephere.com/ornatrix/index...nu=5&dest=free
Its dated January this year, so not sure if it will work with the current builds.

          Just a thought

I'm using the vray hair render part of ornatrix. That's the most buggy part tbh. In addition, I just found out that ornatrix actually has no support for motion blur, regardless of what renderer you use. Pretty useless if you ask me. (Sorry for the mudslinging, but I am a very disappointed man right now. Trying to get fur to work seamlessly in a pipeline is a bit of a hassle).
