Hi! I'm using V-Ray 5.10 in 3dsmax 2020 and I'm having a problem with the RenderID element. In the Vray frame buffer it renders correctly (like the image on the right), and also when I save that channel to a separated file. But it messes up when I save all the elements to a single file (exr multichannel, for example). The inferior part of the image is correct (though with different colors), but the upper part it's only white and red (like an alpha image). See the image on the left. It happens in all files I render, in different computers. The level of the horizontal cut could be higher or lower in the image, varying through different cameras. Did you happen the same? Any ideas of what could it be happening?

Hi SvenPeters,
Are you loading those exrs in Photoshop? You will probably need to use a plugin to open multichannel EXR files (i.e. Exr-IO).
On a simple test opened in Nuke/PDPlayer, the files seem ok on our end.
You can also send an example project with this reproducible so we can have a look (mention this thread or my name in the form subject). Thanks!Nikoleta Garkova | chaos.com

Thank you for your response, nikoleta.garkova
Yes, I'm loading the exrs in Photoshop with Exr-IO plugin. I haven'te tested in Nuke/PDPlayer, but I could do it when I have the chance.
I attach to this post a simple max file, from scratch, with only some geometries, a VraySun and a VrayPhysicalCamera, and some render elements loaded. In this case, the VrayRenderID looks good in the VFB, and also when I save it as exr separated file. But when I save it as exr multichannel (with all the rest of render elements) y looks like an inverted alpha (the geometry is black and the background is white).
I hope you can help me to find the cause of this issue. I'm also going to submit the request in the link you sent me.
Thanks!Attached Files

Hi SvenPeters,
I am also getting the same result opening it on PS, but it looks like it is a limitation to the plugin/PS since I cannot reproduce it in another software; Can you give it a shot in PDPlayer, for example, and let us know if you get any issues?Nikoleta Garkova | chaos.com

Hi nikoleta.garkova
I tried yesterday to download and install it but it seems I need a License:
Is there a way to install a Trial for free?

Hi nikoleta.garkova
I found the issue seems to be a limitation of Exr-IO plugin for Photoshop. Because I opened with ProEXR plugin and VrayRenderID element shows correctly. We reached out to EXR-IO support team and they confirm that there is an incorrect analysis of the image at the portion where it finds background.
So doubt resolved!
