  • Vray attribute like in Maya is this possible in 3ds max ?

In maya, you can add extra attribute, let's say to the skin shader ( the alsurface ) and it work's great, can we do the same in 3ds max with vray ?

I joined an image of the Maya scene with vray, the extra attribute round corner was added to the alsurface mtl.

No there is nothing like that in 3ds max , what do you need to do though? there are custom attributes that can be added to geometry, but that's about it as far as I know.

Why is the Maya always better then the max one ?? My friend in maya was able to make the vray edge txt work with the hairs, where the hairs connect to the skin, it's create a round effect.. I tried for years to do this in vray for max... just impossible to do.. and him was able to do it in a few mins working with the vray edge text attribute..... what is going here ? Why the max version is inferior to the maya one ?? Can we get something similar working in vray for max please.

Well, you can always use the VrayBumpMtl with your AlSurface material and the VrayEdgesTexture in it...
That way, you can have round edges on ANY material.

would this work for hairs when they touch the skin ? I tried back then with a vray edgestxt in the bump, and it was not working, it was working for anything else but hairs... but in maya it was working ! via the edgestxt attribute..
