  • IPR caused PC to be almsot unusable

Not sure if there is something wrong with my PC but I've noticed since updating to Vray 6.0 that while using the IPR (either in VFB or viewport) it becomes almost impossible to interact with anything else with 3ds max's interface. It becomes exceedingly slow and unresponsive, like Vray is hogging all GPU resources. Windows 10 in general is more sluggish too. There used to be an option to use low thread priority but that is no longer there and not a good solution anyway. Why is this happening?

    Hey justini

Are you using V-Ray GPU ?
Are you using the AI Denoiser?
If yes, go to the performance tab you will find low priority checkbox next to your rendering device. This should be helpful
If you are using the standard V-Ray CPU, you can reduce the frequency of updates for the AI denoiser/V-Ray Denoiser. The setting is called Post Effect Rate

    Best,

no. not using Vray GPU. Just standard CPU, but doesn't IPR use both?

Not really, Your GPU should be near idle if you use standard V-Ray CPU IPR, unless you have the Nvidia Denoiser and Lens effects enabled

The option is now always on.
It however seems to be an issue with the CPU being hogged, for whatever reason, but i didn't manage to reproduce it with the scenes i tried.
Do you have anything you could share that shows the behaviour on your side?
