Still, should it switch automatically to composite, from rgb, on render start?

Okay, how do I turn back to RGB? I toggle it, and it switches back to Composition.

With your scene, it was missing lots of stuff so the cache calc happened too quick to switch, but it does switch if you get it before the calculation is finished, otherwise it'll just auto-switch.

For me that doesn't occur.
When I test this using IPR, If I start a render it will auto-switch but if I switch to rgb then it stays there, with subsequent restarts staying with rgb.
I have a scene where you can try this if it's useful.
