  • Invalid geometric normal

    [11:39:08.790] Warning : Invalid geometric normal (0 0 0) for "Non-converted Unicode render instance name".

    I have Googled and found posts, but no solutions. It keeps my slave render node from joining. What is the issue? Everything I read mentioned a proxy issue.

                  My two-hour bucket renders are also now taking 5 hours. When I try to render with the GPU, it is a noisy and splotchy mess. I am assuming it has something to do with that normal warning.

                    The issue is displacement on my wall.rar - I am unsure how to fix it; it is just a wall with a displacement.

                      What I discovered immediately is that by disabling the UVW mapping the issue disappears.
                      I'm not sure why that is right now but it may be a pointer

                          It seems the warning is caused by VRayDisplacementMod's Keep Continuity option, which applied on, by the looks of it, imported geometry seems to cause trouble. Most likely some continuity adjustments are creating invalid normals (which would explain why it does not appear without the UVW Map - since maybe the manipulated UVs resolve it). Indeed, the geometry is not closed and there are many overlapping faces. I'm sure fixing them will resolve the warning.
