  • Chaos Scatter ignores "Override node" parameter? for object ID/MultiMatteElement?

I need to set up object IDs for a Chaos Scatter (all of the instanced objects within it) to use for a MultiMatte render element, but when setting the object ID on the Chaos Scatter object and enabling the "Override node properties" - the object ID is simply not applied to all the objects within it.
Am I missing a beat, or is this not one of the use case ideas behind the override button? Setting the object IDs on all of the source geometry is piped through fine, but I have multiple Scatter objects in the scene. I ended up simply cloning all the source objects and setting their IDs to what I needed for their respective end-point scatter objects, but that just seems a bit silly...

    I'm on max 2023 and V-Ray 6 Update 1.2 (6.10.08 build 00000).

Hi, thanks for posting. This is from the docs:
Override node properties – When enabled, the node properties for the scatter node override those of the individual instanced model objects. (e.g. primary and secondary visibility, V-Ray matte options, etc.)
And here is the section about Scatter.

Hi again. I tested the "override node properties" and it does not work for IDs. We reported this as improvement task in our bug tracking system under VMAX-13710.

Thank you - Yes, that would indeed be an improvement.
