  • Fog and Opacity Maps

    Hi,

have never noticed that before but when using Fog or Aereal Perspective and Opacity Maps in your shaders then the fog doesn't respect the Opacity Maps.
For example here I have a plan with a leaf texture mapped onto and the fog is ignoring the opacity map. Is there any workaround or secret setting to make this work?

Hi, thanks for posting. I am not able to reproduce this. Are you using V-Ray CPU or V-Ray GPU? What are your 3ds Max and V-Ray versions? Could you attach a simple scene for review?

      Hi,

I just did a bit more testing and it seems to happen only when using a Aereal Perspective AND a VrayEnvironmentFog together. If you switch off one then it seems to be fine.
Is it even ever intented to use both at the same time? Just for the scene I was working on it created exactly the look I was after.
Nonetheless I attached a scene with the issue. Latest V-Ray and 3ds Max 2024.

        Hi, thanks for the scene.
If you move the VRayEnvironmentFog above the VRayAerialPerspective in your scene it will work.
