  • Practical Meaning of Anisotropy Rotation [Textures]?

I'm having some trouble understanding what exactly the Anisotropy Rotation itself "means", especially in regard to rotation textures. By the documentation definition:

"[Anisotropy Rotation] Determines the orientation of the anisotropic effect in degrees."

This rotation in practice is in relation to what? From the Tangent? Is it CCW or CW?

But, more importantly what exactly does the texture itself mean? What happens if we have an anisotropy rotation texture multiplier?

    There are examples here.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did see the examples, but I don't think they answer my questions, especially in relation to the definition of what a rotation texture should look like or how it works with a multiplier.

In relation to the chosen Local Axis or Map channel (the options below the Rotation and Anisotropy). Positive values rotate the highlight CCW, negative values - CW.

The color value of the texture [0-1] represents the rotation degrees [0-360]. I.e. a value of 0.25 will produce a 90-degree rotation.
