Anyone else experience often crashes in newer vray when trying to create a vrayproxy? Max is 2023, vray 6.20.06

This is still happening. Now my MAX froze when I changed the location of the export folder for my vrayproxy.

This was happening a lot with max2019 and V-ray.
But, if I saved first, export proxy, crash, restart max, open same scene, and export would work fine again.

      Zero problems in max2024

Crashed again after just opening the vraymesh export window. Are Chaos guys aware of this bug?

No issues on my end. Tested with 3ds Max 2023, V-Ray 6.20.06. Does it happen when exporting a simple Teapot for example? Do send a video reproduction and also the 3dsmax_minidump.dmp file created after the crash. It is located here: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp". Make sure it's the one created after the crash by looking at the date/time stamp.

No, I export normal models, like furniture, cars, etc. Just happened but this time it didn't even create a dump file. I clicked the export, then changed the path export and after I selected it I wanted to click "automatically create proxies" and it freezes and MAX is gone. Now I reopened the file and it exported fine. Previously I only attached all objects into one, and relinked bitmaps in that file.

Just updated to vray 7 and it happened again. This time I got a dump file.
                Any ideas?

                  Hello,

The attached crash dump is from some render and not from vrmesh export ? Crash looks like running out of memory but if you can share the scene with our support - they can try it here too.

                  Best regards,
                  Yavor

So this is what it looks like. Usually when I open file, attach all mesh into one, export - crash

Edit: Workaround is attach all mesh into one, save, quit (or let it crash), and then open and go straight to export. Like adding "undo" crashes it. Although sometimes it'll crash even with that (like just now)

Mind if you send the scene so we can investigate?

Basically any scene of single objects I buy online or have from Evermotion, Maxtree, etc. But yeah I'll send it.

Now it exports and then crashes. I actually have a second in MAX to try to select it so I know it's active. Then crash. And I'm able to find the exported vrmesh files, they are ok. But a very fun process of constant crashing. If I remember correctly, this started right around the time you put this option in menu instead of right click quad menus.

Wow, just realized a weird combo. So, I always use Collin Senner plugin relink bitmaps before I export. If I first export the mesh it's ok, it doesn't crash, but then it'll crash after I use his plugin. And if I use his plugin first, it won't crash max but then vrmesh will! Btw, I use his plugin just fine anywhere else. Only in combination with vrmesh export it crashes.

And if save vrmesh file in MAX, open it again and the use relink bitmaps it's fine.

Just tested it with this free sample and Relink Bitmaps (v2.17) and no issues when exporting .vrmeshes (V-Ray 7). Where are the maps stored on your end?

The scene you sent doesn't crash when exporting to .vrmesh, there's also no assets included, hence the mentioned tests.
