I tried loading a bunch of *ply files. None seems to work. I loaded the same in Max's Point cloud object and loads normally. What could be the issue. I've updated the gpu drivers and also tried the v-ray beta. same issue. Can't see the point cloud.

What kosso_olli said. The difference between regular point cloud .ply and Gaussian splat .ply is the latter contains 3d Gaussians (basically, generalized individual points turned into translucent blobs).

I went down the same path. A tutorial video and downloadable example file would be tremendously helpful (as your current examples on Chaos Docs and Youtube are), especially considering that this new feature which Chaos invested in is their first selling point on V-Ray 7 ads. It's been two weeks since its release date and Chaos is leaving both paying customers and potential paying customers in the dark with this lack of educational content.
Is there any suggested software for generating compatible gaussian splat .ply files from photography? Particularly ones with free trials?

Requirements for clipping volumes: just any 3D mesh you can make. Ideally clipping should have falloff (hard, lin, exp, log)Last edited by trick; 19-11-2024, 02:55 AM.
