  • vray 7 noise

    Hi,
I know putting lights close to walls could cause this but still, vray 6.1 was ok with it (on the right). These are vray rect lights with .7 directionality. I also tried .5 and still so much noise. GPU RTX render, noise level 0.005 and samples 10000.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Crayox13

Do you mean rendering in V-Ray 7 causes more noise than V-Ray 6.1 ?
Adding Sample Rate render element might be helpful to see which areas are cut off

Yeah. After I installed vray 7, render looked like that. Didn't change anything else. Will try sample rate element.

        How do I read this?
I have one bigger rect above the hall which adds to the natural skylight, and generally "LED" lights around the ceiling which seem to be causing the noise.
And again, it was fine with vray 6.1

Oh and lightmix shows that those LEDs are making that noise on walls and floors. I really thought vray took care of that issue of lights being close to the walls but seems it's back.

Nothing changes for the noise between the versions. Could you please upload me this file, to take a look and compare to V-Ray 6.1

Hey, did you check out my scene? I put the link here in the forum. On another scene my "LED" lights are casting so much noise again. RTX render, 0.005 noise, and 10000 subdivs.

Ah sweet! Glad (I hope) you found it! Was thinking I messed up something again.

I don't think your samplerate pass should be THAT red either?

How do I fix it? I use pretty high settings.

I'm not an expert at this, but ^Lele^ is, If you post your settings, that might give us an idea what needs tweaking.

Edit: I see you use GPU, I'm even less of an expert at GPU settings. So maybe Muhammed_Hamed knows what is up.

Yeah, I actually use pretty high settings according to Chaos guys. Maybe GPU just works differently. In this scene I used like 10000 samples and 0.005 noise threshold.

You will need many more samples than 10000, judging by the samplerate being completely red.
In the red areas, V-Ray (CPU or GPU work the same in this) will have reached the maximum sampling it was allowed to use before reaching the noise threshold it was instructed to.
You need to raise the max sampling considerably; just by how much you'll find out when your sampleRate render element will have turned (largely) blue and green.
In other words, if you see red areas in the samplerate RE, you can expect noise in the render in those same areas.
