  • vray scene crashes

MAX 2023, vray 7 hotfix1. I have this scene, a bit heavy with FP objects, and some specific 3D models. I cleaned all the errors, like if I remember correctly UVW randomizer used to crash vrycene files, and removed bump2normal maps. Those gave errors. Also converted all bitmaps to vraybitmaps. It actually rendered fine once but then started crashing again. CPU render.
    Here are the scenes:

It seems to be caused by the VRayScene being copied/instanced. Leaving out a single VRayScene does not yield any issues. To troubleshoot further, please send the .max file (or post another dropbox link) from which you exported the .vrscene.

I see. I just sent the link to the scene to support email. Is that ok? Referenced this post.

Oh, just saw the email from support@chaosgroup.com that you no longer use that email. Where should I send it instead?

Thanks for the provided files. The scene is as heavy as it can get, so just so you know troubleshooting will be slow. I'm getting a message about some obsolete NVidia assets or something needing conversion. Are you getting it? Also, your ForestPack version is compatible with V-Ray 7, correct?

We managed to reproduce the crash on a simple scene and logged it (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-14667). It concerns ForestPack objects exported to .vrscene and later instanced through VRayScene nodes.

Yeah, I always have latest FP so it is compatible with vray 7.

Cool, thanks! Glad you found it. Where can I track if it gets resolved?

Sorry to say, the bug-tracker is internal. I'll write again when there is movement on the case.

Forgot to answer. No, currently no errors. I select only the middle of the scene and export selected. No trees on both sides of it, and now sun/camera.
