  • Chroimatic Abberation issure on big images

    Hi,

as soon i activate chromatic abberation on big images (here 6K), i got a pretty lowres image with no antialiasing.
When i deactive it, the image looks normal but without CA.

    2K looks ok...

    Any suggestions or solutions?

    Best Timo ✌

Strange. It doesn't seem to happen in a simple scene. Could you send both the 6k and 2k exrs (so that the layer tree is saved) so we can troubleshoot?

I tried also a simple scene - only Torusknot + HDRI... get steps as well or should it look like this?
Looks wrong to me without anialaising...

The Chromatic Aberration effect follows what's rendered in the scene. So, if there's bad AA, it is inherent in the scene. What kind of Image Filter (Render Setup > V-Ray > Image filter) are you using? Can you attach the torus scene here?

          I use the default settings:

          Type: VRayLanczoFilter
          Size: 2,0
          Adaptive clamp: 1,5

Here you can donwload the scene: https://www.dropbox.com/t/pcUvtDUqkQqTGFL6

Thank you. I managed to reproduce it (the image resolution had to be even larger). I've logged the issue (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-14662) for dev investigation.

For now, disable the "Hardware Accelerated" option in the Lens Effects settings. This should yield correct results.

Oh cool - will test it later... thx for the information!

                  ... Yeah - it works!

Btw. is it possible to get the CA as a renderelement?

Not directly. You could always subtract the RGB from the effectsResult channel, however, there will probably be some noise leftover.
