  • Regarding the recent Anti-Virus messages with V-Ray 7, hotfix 1

    Greetings,

Since some users have reported (Thread 1, Thread 2, Thread 3) warning messages, threat detection, and quarantining of the vdenoise.exe tool from various anti-virus software companies (i.e. BitDefender, Windows Defender), I am creating this thread to collect similar issues.

First things first - the denoiser tool is safe to use. The quarantining depends on the anti-virus software and must be addressed by them.

I have already written an e-mail to BitDefender to resolve their mislabeling. Based on an online scan, it seems that a few other anti-virus software also do that and we'll probably have to contact all the companies directly.

Please, report similar issues in this thread. Post a screencap of the error message and the name of the anti-virus software that issued it.

Thank you so much for addressing this.

It's kind of startling when your anti-virus starts flashing warnings at you, so we appreciate you looking into it and outlining the next steps to resolve this in the future

We have received the following reply from BitDefender:
“We have received an update from our Antimalware Team regarding the analysis of the provided sample (vdenoise.exe). The update states that the file is clean and detection should be removed in the next couple of updates”

According to our ITs, other vendors may be pulling data from BitDefender, so the fix could also affect other anti-virus software. We'll keep you in touch.

According to Virus Total Scan, a few of the vendors (including BitDefender) have already fixed the false quarantine. We'll continue contacting other vendors until the matter is resolved.

            Hi,

Same here with Vray 7, identified by Windows Defender (but trojan name is Formbook, not Wacatac like all other users).

I did a full scan of my C drive and Malwarebytes detected Vdenoise from a Max2025 install. They are calling it Malware.AI which is anything found using their AI algorithm for detection.
