I've noticed a significant change in how metal materials behave in Vray 7 compared to previous versions, and I'm hoping someone can help clarify this.
In Vray 6 and earlier versions, I would create metal materials using this setup:
However, in Vray 7, this same setup produces unexpected results:
I've found a workaround by moving the reflection color to the diffuse slot, which produces results similar to previous Vray versions. However, I haven't found any documentation about changes to metal material creation in Vray 7.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a deliberate change in how metal materials should be created in Vray 7? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
In Vray 6 and earlier versions, I would create metal materials using this setup:
- Black/dark grey diffuse
- Metallness set to 1
- Specific reflection colors to achieve different metal types
However, in Vray 7, this same setup produces unexpected results:
- The material appears completely black when using a black diffuse
- The reflection color settings seem to be ignored entirely
