  • V-Ray 7 lightmix and denoise issue

    Hi,

Anyone here facing this problem, when i start IPR render with Denoiser turn on, I cannot turn off Lightmix, because Lightmix will turn on automacally when Denoiser kick in, it make the Lightmix become a un-useable feature.
    Best regards,
    Jackie Teh

I don't understand the issue. Switching to the RGB source works fine? Or do you mean that when you start IPR, it automatically switches to LightMix? Do you want to use LightMix or not?

There is definitely an issue with how the denoiser interacts with lightmix. My issue is similar but different. It appears that the denoiser doesn't respect certain settings with lightmix and will give an incorrect appearance when enabled.

Do provide a scene/reproduction method so I can troubleshoot it.

1- you open a scene, in the render set up add Denoiser and LightMix Element.
2- start IPR render, in VFB using LightMix to turn off the light, wait for Denoiser to kick in, see what will happen

I'm nearly certain both of you are experiencing the issue reported here. And indeed, it ̶ ̶s̶e̶e̶m̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶f̶i̶x̶e̶d̶ in the stables/nightlies. Pixelcon could you test the latest stable build?

EDIT: Pardon, it's not fixed yet.

How stable is stable? I'm in the middle of rendering out thousands of frames...

jackieteh Okay, did some further testing, and it seems you are right. The issue is not yet fixed, however, the one you are experiencing has a different reproduction method than the one I mentioned earlier (the effect is the same and probably stemming from the same problem).
It seems that loading .vfbl presets during IPR messes up the Denoiser result. Logged this one as internal tracker ID: VFB-149.
