It seems that the "3ds Max material swatches" (Render Setup > Settings > System) option is active. Disable it to get the V-Ray swatches. Correct me if I misunderstood the issue.

Does this happen when using Scanline? Are you using V-Ray as the Material Editor Renderer (Render Setup > Common > Assign Renderer)? I presume resetting 3ds Max to its defaults should resolve it.

I am not sure about Scanline, V-Ray is the only renderer I use, of cause yes, i am using V-Ray as the Material Editor Renderer.

Did resetting the 3ds Max preferences help? I'm pretty sure I've come across this way back (before our own swatches were implemented), and it's very likely an Autodesk thing. Either way, I suggest using our own.
