your ram limit isnt due to not having neough ram. you can buy 16gb ram doesnt make a difference since windows xp only takes up to 2gb ram per application and 3gb ram per application with the switch on (my supermicro mobo can take up to 16gb ram i only wish i could stick 64bit chips on it then load on win xp 64 hehe. my boxx only takes up to 4gb ram)

More RAM is always good but as it is the only difference is that the scene will be able to go to 2.6 to 2.8 GB of RAM usage before it crashes instead of 1.6-1.8 GB, with 2 GB it will use the swap disk.

Is it possible the switch could have messed with my video card?(nvidia quad fx 3000) today it is not listed under display properties/settings/advanced but it is listed as functioning on device manager. Very confused.

yes, couple of reboots should fix this. We get that quite often.

Yes it is possible, video driver address memory seems to be the first thing to conflict with the Switch. I would try reinstalling the drivers.

edit: a few reboots sounds like a better 1st thing to try

I disagree... I reisntalled first time this happened too, but then the driver for the normal mode went screwed up. I suggest trying to reboot in normal mode then in 3 gb switch and see if that would work first.

                        don't forget.....

that green line in the task manager is NOT your memory. it's your Page file memory which is your physical hard disk. This would be a limit you can easily set manually without the 3gig switch. That would explain the 1.9 and it showing only half way.

watch the memory of max insted in the processes
