  • DR - local machine buckets desaturated

    Hi all,

this is my first post after studying VRay forums for couple of months - I learned loads of things from here, thank you all.

The question is whether there is a possibility of excluding local machine (i.e. DR manager) from rendering during distributed rendering? When doing a render bigger than 2000 pix you end up with local buckets desaturated.

I think the problem is memory-related but saving to vrimg, minimizing both VFB's does not help. But why not free the manager machine from rendering tasks? Let it be occupied with management alone

It would be very grateful for any hints on this,

    Szymon

If you mean the client machine - no - it cannot be excluded from the DR process.

When doing a render bigger than 2000 pix you end up with local buckets desaturated.
Can you show an image, which demonstrates better what exactly is happening?

    Best regards,

      Sure:

You can see that desaturation takes place in reflection and 2d-displacement (grass) areas,

      thanks

Looks like not found files (textures, IRmaps if pre-saved). Check all the network paths.

          But:

          1. It happens on local machine only
          2. All the maps are on the server
          3. You can see the texture on the grass but no colour

What host is this ? MAX or VIZ ?

            3. You can see the texture on the grass but no colour
Which texture are you talking about - the displacement one? If so, is there a diffuse one for the same grass or is it just a pure colour?

            Best regards,

Yes, there is also a diffuse for the grass,

Which V-Ray version are you running ? Looks like the 1.47.03
There is a known issue with VIZ 2006 and missing maps. More on this:

The 1.46.15 build works ok on VIZ 2006.
If you do not have it, please send an email with a request at <vray@choasgroup.com> with your login and password for the support section.

OK, but how would you explain the fact that the problem is not occurring when rendering on a single machine?

                  Regards,

Could be VIZ related. Can you send me a piece of the scene with which we can reproduce the error (including the maps needed). Thank you!
