Well, I opened the one that came with the install, added a couple boxes and rendered it successfully, then exited saving the new version. So, I know that file "works".
I dont know if this is related to DR problems or not, but in the backburner monitor, I'm getting 3 instances of the node appearing in the server list that wont work in DR. I've checked the task manager, and there's only one instance of server running. Any idea what could be causing this problem?
This is persisting.. What possible reason would there be for having 2 extra phantom instances of a node in my renderfarm that appear to be 'absent'? And how do I remove them?

perhaps conflicting ip's or machine names on your network?
Turns out you can clear it by deleting the contents of the backburner\Network\Servers folder, then restart server and manager
This new version of backburner is a serious nightmare. It refuses to send jobs out to all servers sometimes.... Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
<edit>
Autodesk have released an update to BB that fixes this problem (jobs being stuck on one server.... not the spawner problem as far as I am aware though)
Here's a kick in the head. Just for grins I tried rendering from the slave and pointing to the workstation under DR settings. It worked!
Now, I'm glad that it worked, but why doesn't it work the other way?
(BTW, thanks to Chris for lots of MSN help in figuring this out.)

Is this a software license issue?
We can't get some of our slaves to pick up a license since installing R3. Have tried everything including copy the patch dll over the new install dll?
???
Oh - and this is good ole, hard working max 6.
You need to install on the render slaves with the "software license" option (*do not* copy any .dlls from other v-ray versions). This will cause the slaves to not require a license at all when 3dsmax is started in slave mode.
