  • Incremental add to current map- size issuse

Hi there, im haveing frustrating problems with an animation im trying to render out. I keep running into memory problems:

At first i though it was the size of my scene and just to much geometry. then i had a look at my Irr map. Ive been using Incremental add and it was on 146.8MB last time it crashed. Im using vrays buffer which helps a bit but cant seem to render out the full animation. Keeps crashing after about 80 or so frames. Im not using any sort of netrender, just the one PC.

Am i going to have to use Single Irr map or are there more memory ticks i can use. Tryed awhile ago to get my 3G switch working but never got it going.

Any ideas or should i just render with Single Irr Map??

    thanks

jujubee, i agree with all of that but it just prelongs the problem. my maps, proxys etc are all ok. My problem is, if my animation is 1000 frames and at the momment crashes on frame 80, even if i decrease quality etc it might not crash at frame 80 but im guessing it will crash later on down the time line eg frame 180...

know what i mean?... the incremetal add to Irr map will just keep getting bigger and bigger untill it crashes.

      Or am i wrong?

80? meaning its done approximately 8 frames? whats your nth frame setting?

if your camera is moving really slowly i would suggest an nth frame of about 10 or 15. is you were using an nth frame of 10 then 80 frames would put you up at 800 frames rendered. whats your secondary bounce? QMC?

My cam isnt moving all that slowly.

Im not to sure what u mean by
                whats your nth frame setting?
My animation is 1000 frames on the timeline

you dont need to calculate for every single frame. in your general render settings you can set your nth frame between 5 and 10 frames

                    Nth is on 1.

But what use would it do by increasing it. Its gonna shorten the timing of my animation and still im gonna run into memory problems. even if it takes out frames, the Irr map is still gonna get to big and crash. i think at the momment what im gonna have to do is us Single Irr map.

                    Right or wrong?

you have obviously missed the point of having a saved imap.

you dont actually render your frames when calculating the imap. you calculate every 10th frame and you set it not to render the image. then using the saved map you render every 1 frame. (thats just the basics.)

this is a pretty good example of how to render an animation...

basically the use of incremental add to current and saving the map is so that you DONT have to calculate IMap for every single frame

btw, what is actually the main difference beteween "multiframe incremental" and "incremental add" ? The manual says that both are good for animations but what is better or what are the benefits using one method over the other ?
