  • Framebuffer bug?

    Hello!

I wonder why vray dosent save g-buffer channels when there is render to memory buffer turned off? When I turn it on and try to render huge image max crashes.. does anyone know is it possible at all to render huge images with memorybuffer example like 4000x4000 with this old vray 1.47.03? I really love to get real reflection passes etc. passes out of vray

You have to use the .vrimg raw file option in that case. If you turn off the "Render to memory" option, V-Ray will not be able to save the final image, since it is not kept in memory.

      Say Vlado,
would it be possible for the vray VFB to save out a vfimg file after the render is done? There is no option right now because I am assuming you are using the max savers. Is it possible or is it too much of a bother?

      thanks!

The .vrimg is saved while the rendering is being done and not after it is complete. When a bucket is calculated, it is immediately written to the .vrimg file and the memory for it is reused for the next bucket. Since the 3dsmax output filters were not written to support this way of operation, the writing is done by V-Ray internally.

In that case would there be possibilities to open a vrimg in a VFB after the fact?

i guess what i mean is that if i forget to turn on the vrimg saving but i am using the vray fb to view my render. then i would like to save the vrimg.
