  • hmm, material issue????

    Hi all,
I am using 'high' for my IR map settings with HShp at 50 and Interp Samples at 20, and I am getting the following results on the buckets, (notice the difference between the buckets) you can actually see where the bucket was on the image

The AA is low purely for speed so please ignore that issue. Also I am using LC as the sec bounce. When I studied the whole image I realised this issue appeared only on the chrome material. So now I am thinking is a material issue. I am not using DR.

Update: I simplified my scene to just a sphere+plane and used the same chrome material, same problem, replaced the material with and it rendered out fine,
here are the settings for the material that is giving me the unfavourable results

I purposely made the depth and subdivs of the material the same as the good material thing that that was the issue.
I have used this material before and I havent noticed any issues,
As always any help is appreciated,
    cheers,
    Tom
edit: here is the full pic

I've had the same problem recently.

I recreated the "exact" same material and it was fine. I just copied each setting to a new shader manually and the render turned out fine.

I think sometimes they just get corrupt or something.

        Is this DR...
If it is a single PC, try setting the cutoff value in the < Options of the Material > to 0.001... (just add another Zero).

See if that makes a difference.

I am using DR with 4 other computers. Funny thing is....the only place that there is a problem in my scene is the water. I am getting darker
buckets. Some nice blue and some light blue. I cant post the image just yet, but was curious if anyone new what causes this.

          Regards,
          Mike

Is there something different on that machine?

For instance, if one machine can't find a bump map for the water, or a vraymesh for trees that are reflected in the water, or a hdri you are using for sky reflections, or... or...

Look for anything non-procedural in the water material, the environment, or surrounding objects.

If you have any "fog" color in water material, try setting this to white and see if the problem goes away. I remember there was an issue with this in older versions of V-Ray, but it should have been fixed for the RCs.
