Doing a smaller Crop render using previously saved IRR map, but for some reason it's taking longer to render than if I'de started from scratch with the whole render including calc time.

    Any ideas?

Mmmm. I added some geometry but didn't bother to update the IRR maps (it eouldn't have made much difference), maybe that was the problem.

This is in fact a way to notice your irradiance maps are not being accessed correctly or, as u have found, they are either corrupt or dont match with the current geometry in the scene: the render slooooows down. If you find a render with precalcd irradiance maps is going much slower than it should be, you will probably see there are illuminations artifacts here and there. Time to check the GI solutions!

Ah ha. So in this situation, it's best (and faster!) to start over with a re-calc?

I can confirm this. Sometime saved irradiance maps will slow you down to crowl, if you tweaked your scene, or changed something.

A fresh irradiance map will speed up rendering 10X!

              Oh well...
